ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

Accreditation
Saints Peter and Paul is accredited through both the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) and North Central Accreditation (NCA).

Curriculum
The Archdiocese of Denver provides course of study/curriculum guides for use in all Archdiocesan Schools. The basic program includes religion, mathematics, language arts, social studies, science, fine arts, physical education, health and safety and technology. Foreign language is taught in the middle school and optional for other grades.

Achievement Test
Sts. Peter and Paul School students take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills yearly. Individual test scores are used for the purpose of monitoring student progress. Sts. Peter and Paul School students traditionally score an average of 2-3 years above grade level. By the time our students reach eighth grade, the average grade equivalent is 13+. Eighth grade students also take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) at the Catholic High School of their choice.

Fast Direct
Sts. Peter and Paul has recently introduced a new system of communication called Fast Direct. Fast Direct is an Internet based service that manages all school data in a secure, efficient and easy to use system. Parents are now able to view teacher grade books to monitor their child's progress and message teachers at any time from the comfort of their own home. http://www.fastdir.com/sppscatholic.

Positive Behavior Support (PBS)
Sts. Peter and Paul School is proud to be the first recognized Catholic school in the nation to implement Positive Behavior Support as our school-wide discipline program. We believe that introducing, modeling, and reinforcing positive social behavior is an important aspect of a students educational experience. Teaching behavioral expectations and rewarding students for following them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding. The purpose of school-wide PBS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm.

Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

Mandatory conferences are scheduled during the first trimester for all students. Parents and/or teachers may request conferences at any time if there is a concern that needs to be discussed. Students are encouraged to attend conferences. Third trimester conferences are mandatory for eighth graders, and by request for all other students.

Newsletter
All important notices from the school will be sent home in the school newsletter each month. The website will be updated regularly to keep all information current. Newsletters will be available for parents to view at: http://www.fastdir.com/sppscatholic.
